Middle and high school students in Florida can study Holocaust survivor testimonials and submit original creative entries in film, essays/poems, and artwork based on their learning.听

What Did Women Do? 1933-1945 Poster Exhibit听

Collaboration between the Arthur and Emalie Gutterman Family Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education and the University Galleries. The history of women during the Holocaust is complex. While there is a wealth of research on diverse topics within Holocaust Studies, the unique intersectional experiences of women are frequently overlooked. The Nazi regime targeted all Jews, both men and women, for persecution and eventually death. 听However, women 鈥 both Jewish and non-Jewish 鈥 often faced severe persecution that was distinct from that experienced by men. This poster exhibit will showcase the various roles women represented from 1933-1945.

Holocaust Education Week 鈥 November 9-13, 2026
January 27, 2027- International Holocaust Remembrance Day
The United Nations General Assembly designated the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau as International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a time to remember the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazi persecution. Florida lawmakers unanimously passed a bill declaring January 27 as Holocaust Remembrance Day. The bill aims to address rising antisemitism and hate crimes against Jewish people. Florida schools will be encouraged to provide instruction on the Holocaust and antisemitism.

The incredible true story of Ernst Cahn, a beloved Jewish ice cream parlor owner who in 1941, after the Nazi鈥檚 invade the Netherlands, 听was targeted, arrested, and tortured by the infamous 鈥淏utcher of Lyon鈥 Klaus Barbie. As his world crumbles, Cahn must choose between resistance and death鈥 choice that will reverberate throughout the country. This documentary shares never-before-seen interviews with the last living generation of people to have participated in Adolf Hitler鈥檚 Third Reich. Filmed over a 10-year period, it raises questions about authority, conformity, complicity, perpetration, national identity, and responsibility, as men and women 鈥 ranging from former SS members to civilians 鈥 reckon with their memories, perceptions, and personal appraisals of their role in the Holocaust.
